Cody Buresh (39) is a hard-hitting linebacker / defensive end for Wabash College. He has garnered plenty of national attention this preseason. Cody Buresh has been named a D3football.com 2014 Preseason First Team All-America defensive end.

Buresh, who plays a hybrid rush end and linebacker position, earned the honor after being named a First Team All-America last season by the online site. D3football.com begins its 16th season covering NCAA Division III football.

Buresh finished the 2013 season with 57 tackles with 20.5 tackles for losses of 103 yards and a team-high 11 sacks for 80 yards this season. He ranked ninth among Division III players with an average of 2.1 tackles for losses per game and 11th in pass sacks with an average of 1.1 a contest. He set a Wabash single-game record with 5.5 tackles for losses against Ohio Wesleyan. Buresh also tied the school record for sacks in a game with 4.5 against OWU. He recovered a fumble against Allegheny for his second career touchdown. His totals helped Wabash to top ranking among Division III schools in total defense, holding opponents to 220.7 yards per game. The Little Giants led all NCAA teams regardless of division in turnover margin with an overall average of 2.4 for the season. Wabash finished second in Division III in rushing defense (63.1 yards per game) and tackles for losses (11.6 per game), third in sacks (3.7 per game), and fourth in scoring defense (11.3 points per game) in 2013.

Buresh was named to the 2014 Sporting News Preseason All-America list as a linebacker.

Wabash, ranked 16th in preseason D3football.com top-25 poll, opens the 2014 season September 6 at home against 21st-ranked Hampden-Sydney College of Virginia. The game between the two all-male colleges, dubbed The Gentlemen's Classic, kicks off at 1 p.m.
