Sugar Creek Swim Club member Missy Robinson will compete in this week’s Indiana Senior State Championships.

Mark Hesse thinks he has the swimmer who could provide one of the most surprising finishes in this weekend’s Senior State meet.

Josh Baugh has fresh legs, remains energized and has an upbeat attitude about this meet.

That’s why Sugar Creek Swim Club’s coach acknowledged he could provide the team with some key swims this week.

But Baugh, an incoming DePauw University junior, has another answer.

"It’s probably because he hasn’t seen me much this summer," said Baugh, who has attended very few meets because of his job with a roofing company. He will swim in a team-high nine events. "[Coach Hesse] always has high expectations for me, which is good. He’s looking forward to seeing me swim and I’m looking forward to seeing myself swim. I haven’t had as much opportunities to swim this summer."

Baugh is one of 14 Sugar Creek Swim Club members who will compete in today through Sunday’s Indiana Senior State Long Course Meters Championships at the IU-Bloomington campus.

He, along with Ben Baugh; Adam Current; Victoria Fairfield; Jay Guffey; Rebecca Howland; Ian Line; Emily McIlrath; Keith Ridge; Sarah Robertson; Missy Robinson; Nick Stevens; Kendrick Vester; and Ben Watkins are aiming for top-eight podium finishes.

A handful of those swimmers – including Current, McIlrath, Robinson and Watkins –competed at the Central Zone Section 3 Speedo Championships last week and Hesse liked what he saw.

"Current and Watkins swam great at the Speedo meet. I’m real encouraged by what I’ve seen in training and feel like they’re going to be ready to swim fast," he said. "Emily definitel
