SAPULPA, Ok. - Former Southmont High School football coach Mike Gottsch will try to bring another program back to life.

Gottsch was hired as Sapulpa high school's new head football coach, according to a Jan. 7 article by Barry Lewis of the Tulsa World.

Gottsch replaces former Sapulpa coach Trandy Birch, who resigned in November after two seasons. Sapulpa went 1-9 last year.

Gottsch was the head football coach at his alma mater, Tabor College, an NAIA school in Hillsboro, Kan., for the past three years. Tabor College went 3-27 during his tenure.

Before taking the Tabor College position, Gottsch coached the Mounties for three years. The Mounties went 2-28 during his tenure.
