CLAYTON-Southmont's boys' soccer team went to Cascade today looking to get a victory but ended up falling by the final score of 6-2.

"Overall not a bad first effort. Seen many good things, but also plenty to work on," coach Brandon Rash said. "Great play by our captain's Mikal Farabee and Devin Miller, also our upcoming leaders Travis Michael and Malik Gayler. Cascade played a solid game. We started three freshman, so we were very young on the field. Also changed formation, and the lineup close to 10 times. As coaches we were seeing different looks. If I can say anything is that we need to take it one day at a time, learn from mistakes and build on them."

The goals for Southmont came from Miller and Michael. South ended up trailing at half 3-0. Miller and Clayton Remley each had seven saves each for the Mounties.

Southmont (0-1) travels to Danville Tuesday.
