Luke Menard fans are not painted into a certain box.
Take Heather Gilstrap's second grade class at St. Bernard's Catholic School as the prime example. They may be young, but they have passion for their favorite American Idol.
The class has T-shirts that say "My American Idol is Luke Menard." The reason is simple.
"We want more people to vote for him," Caroline McClasky, one of the students in Gilstrap's class, said.
The students in the class in unison said that the watch the show three nights a week, even if they don't stay up to see the entire show.
"I don't get to watch all of it because of my bedtime," Chloe Osmon said.
She said that she liked this week because he sang first.
Her classmate Avery Hess said she was excited when she learned a local resident was on the show.
"It's cool that he in on American Idol," Hess said. "It's nice that he get to do this."
Gilstrap said she organized the students in support of Menard because she went to school with him.
"I've known him since the fourth grade," she said. "I wanted to give a little extra support anyway we could."
Be sure to watch American Idol on Fox tonight at 8 p.m. to find out the results from this week's show.
