Itfs getting to the end of the garage sale season. Thatfs too bad because I really like the 50-60 degree weather. Ifm not a hot weather person so spring and fall are my favorite times of the year. I have a hard time giving up my shorts for jeans. Many of you, including my wife, had garage sales this year and have things left over that you donft know what to do with. Well, Freecycling might be the solution. Ifve mentioned freecycling before but wanted to bring it up again as people look to clean out that garage so the vehicles can get in this winter!
If you do not have a Yahoo! Email address, go to www.yahoo.com and create one for yourself. Once youfve done that, go to www.freecycle.org and choose a group to sign up. Once you sign up you can post things you want to give away or things you are looking for. The main thing is that everything that is offered has to be FREE. If you want to sell items there is a group called Community Online Yardsale. Thatfs a group where you can post things for an asking price or request things youfre looking for. Unfortunately, Crawfordsville doesnft currently have an official Freecycle group. There is another group called FreeShare thatfs being used. You will find official groups for Roachdale, Lafayette and Indianapolis. Many people in Cville sign up and post in those groups. Be warned! You will receive a lot of email, especially from larger groups like IndyFreecycle. If signup is confusing to you, send me an email and I will send you links to signup for these groups. These are a good way to find things and also give away things that are in the way at home. You always think, no one would want this, but someone will. If you like this sort of thing, give it a try. You can always cancel your subscription to the email list if you like.
Good news this week! It appears I may have found a new home for No Computer Left Behind! I still need to work out the details but hope to be back up and going in a couple weeks if all goes well. Ifve missed giving away computers to kids but itfs given me some time to look at more software alternatives. If the new location pans out, I may be able to expand NCLB to the levels I had originally envisioned when I started the program.
Have a great week!
