The questions have been answered. The scores have been submitted. Now is the hard part - waiting to hear the results.

Members of the Northridge Middle School, Tuttle Middle School and Southmont Junior High Academic Junior Super Bowl teams will have to wait a little while longer to see how they fared against other schools across the state following Saturday's competition at Southmont High School.

Amy Gillan, host coordinator and Southmont coach, said that this was the third year Southmont has been the host school for the competition. Southmont was one of 13 schools to play host to the competition.

"There is a first, second and third place for each enrollment class at each site," Gillan said.

She said that the scores for each subject are sent to the state and the schools' scores are ranked within their enrollment classification to determine state winners. There are four enrollment classes.

"The state tabulates state winners," she said.

The results will be announced at 3 p.m. today on the Indiana Association of School Principals Web site.

While 12 schools competed at Southmont Saturday, only two other schools competed in Class 2 with Northridge, Southmont and Tuttle.

For each of the five subject - Social Studies, Math, English, Science and Interdisciplinary - the students had to answer 25 questions.

Northridge finished second in Social Studies, third in Math and first in Interdisciplinary.

Southmont finished first in Social Studies, second in Math, first in English, first in Science and third in Interdisciplinary.

Tuttle finished third in Social Studies, first in Math, second in English, second in Science and second in Interdisciplinary as a result of a tie breaker.

Seventh grade student Ellen Ward, the Social Studies captain for the Southmont team, said there was only one question that no one on their team knew.

"It feels pretty good," she said. "Sitting at the computer looking up a bunch of stuff paid off."

Northridge eighth grade student Christopher Adams said he prepared for Saturday's competition by reviewing his material.

"I re-read everything except for the novel," Adams said. "I also went over all my practice questions."

Tuttle English Coach Pete Utterback said the recent county meet helped prepare the students for Saturday's area competition.

"We always have kids that have never done this before," he said. "The county meet gets them to the table and lets the team talk. It definitely helps us a lot for (this) competition."

The state results will be released at 3 p.m. Log onto the Indiana Association of School Principals Web site at http://iasp.org/dspcompresults.aspx to see how your school did.
