The wait is over.
Members of the Northridge Middle School, Tuttle Middle School and Southmont Junior High Academic Junior Super Bowl teams found out how they stacked up compared to the other schools in the same enrollment classification from around the state.
Amy Gillan, Southmont coach, said that the schools are divided into one of four classifications based on the school's enrollment. All three Montgomery County Schools participated in Class 2.
Overall all three county schools shined Saturday at the area competition. When compared to other schools from around the state, at least one of Montgomery County's teams finished in the top 10.
Social Studies
Montgomery County took two of the top three spots in the Social Studies category. Southmont Junior High's social studies team edged out West Lafayette Jr/Sr High and Northridge Middle School's team. Northridge finished third after going to the second tie-breaker.
Science
Southmont's Social Studies team narrowly missed finishing in the top three in the state. The team finished fourth, after going to three tie-breakers. Southmont finished in the top 10, just behind Portage Middle School, West Vigo Middle School and South Dearborn Middle School. Southmont's team will receive a team certificate
Math
Tuttle Middle School's Math team was the lone county school to finish in the top 10 for the Math category. Tuttle finished third behind West Lafayette Jr/Sr High and Martinsville East Middle School. Martinsville edged out Tuttle after the first tie-breaker.
English
The English category saw Southmont and Tuttle finish first and second ahead of a four-way tie for third place. Jimtown Jr. High School, Leo Jr/Sr High School, East Jay Middle School and West Lafayette Jr/Sr High School all had the same score after the three tie-breakers and share the third place honors.
Interdisciplinary
Northridge narrowly missed cracking the top 3 in the Interdisciplinary category. Northridge finished fourth behind Pike Central Middle School, Western Middle School and West Lafayette Jr/Sr High School. West Lafayette finished third as a result of a tiebreaker with Northridge.
