LAFAYETTE - Southmont's girls swim team opened their season with a 136-35 road loss to McCutcheon on Tuesday night.
Sophomore Victoria Burkhart placed second in the 100-yard backstroke, finishing in 1:11.21, and third in the 200 freestyle (2:24.50). She also swam on the Mounties' (0-1) second-place 400 freestyle relay team, along with senior Emily Jarvis, junior Cassie Parker and freshman Savannah Cloncs. They finishing in 4:45.61.
Jarvis placed third in the 200 individual medley, while Parker was third in the 50 freestyle. Senior Susan Ward placed third in the 100 freestyle and senior Kelsey Bowman was third in the 100 breaststroke.
Senior Shelby Etcheson, Bowman, Ward and Parker teamed up for a third-place finish in the 200 freestyle relay.
Jarvis also finished fourth in the 500 freestyle, while Parker was fourth in the 100 butterfly and Ward was fourth in the 50 freestyle.
