LINDEN - Linden resident and World of Outlaws racer Brian Carlson was released from Lake Regional Hospital in Osage Beach, Mis., on Monday, and has returned home, according to a press release by World of Outlaws Sprint Series Public Relations Director Tony Veneziano.

Carlson sustained an injury to his left leg after hard contact with the wall in last Saturday's time trials at Lake Ozark Speedway.

He was transported to the hospital and kept overnight for observation. But complications from medication administered for the leg injury kept him in the hospital on Sunday as well as part of Monday.

Carlson ranks 27th in the World of Outlaw Sprint Car points standings and has won $4,550 this season. He finished 15th in points last year and won more than $28,000.

He also owns Carlson Racing and Carlson Racing Engines in Linden.

Tony Bruce Jr. and his team stepped in to help Brian's wife and crew chief Sarah and sons Seth and A.J. return home Sunday from Missouri with the team's truck and trailer.

Sean McClelland, who races with the American Sprint Car Series (ASCS) Sooner Region and is helping out Bruce's team the next couple weeks, drove the truck back to Linden for the Carlson family.

"No matter what has happened in the past in sprint car racing, we can always count on our racers being great friends and family," Sarah Carlson said. "Everyone with the World of Outlaws, our fellow competitors and crew members are supportive in ways that fans never get to see. A special thanks to 'the other 18 car,' as our son A.J. calls Tony's team.

"Also thanks to our buddy Dwaine, who has been providing all the teams with steak dinners for the past couple weeks at the track, for all his help."

Carlson visited his doctor in Indiana today for further evaluations on his injury and to determine the amount of time that will be needed for recovery.
